Hearty Hamburger Stew
Crumble ground beef into 2 1/2 quarts of water. Bring to a boil and simmer for 1 hour with salt, pepper, and fresh garlic. Add the parsley, onions, celery, and carrots. Cut up canned tomatoes and add them with their juices. Simmer for 2 hours. Add the pearl barley and simmer for 30 minutes. Add okra and simmer an additional 30 minutes. Serve with green salad and french bread.
