I grew up eating this every Christmas. It was a tradition for every patriarch to make one see who had the best one while keeping it a secret of the different ingredients. It was never a holiday without this baking in the oven. This particular recipe is one that my mother, my grandmothers, and my aunts, as well as their mothers, made.
Coming from a French-Canadian family in New England, this recipe goes back for close to 100 years. This started off as something that was inexpensive yet would hold you over.
