French Canadian Chop Suey

Even though this recipe may look simple, it has an immense history in my French-Canadian culture. It has been made by great grandparents. It was considered a low cost and filling meal that would fill up everyone.  In most recent years, I have replaced the pasta with gluten-free pasta and also used tofu instead of hamburger. Most of the population does not prefer it made this way, it does not have to be, but it can be changed based on what you work better for you.

Toutiere(French Canadian Meat Pie)

This recipe is a strong contender in the French Canadian culture. It is a meat pie that we call Toutiere. It is a meat pie that is made with a variety of spices. I grew up eating this every Christmas. It was a tradition for every patriarch to make one see who had the best one while keeping it a secret of the different ingredients. It was never a holiday without this baking in the oven. This particular recipe is one that my mother, my grandmothers, and my aunts, as well as their mothers, made.

Gluten Free Pumpkin Bread

This is a go-to treat when I want something sweet. I eat small amounts and heat it up with some earth balance. It is good with tea at night or just when you are craving something sweet. You can swap out the eggs with applesauce and add in nuts. This is also something great to make around the holidays as well.

What to Eat Before Running

Well, I finally did it. I signed up for a marathon. To be specific, I signed up for the Atlantic City Marathon in New Jersey on October 18th, 2020. I have never run a marathon before, and right up until this past year, I never thought I would even call myself a runner, period.
