Foods listed that May Help Hair Grow are All Found in Arizona Ag, Except One

By Julie Murphree, Arizona Farm Bureau Outreach Director

Okay, it’s true. A good diet helps with everything including keeping a healthy mane of hair. For many, the psychological costs of losing their hair are acute.

Millions of men and women in the U.S. suffer from hair loss. According to a 2014 survey by the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery, approximately 35 million men in the United States suffer some type of hair loss, while approximately 21 million women are affected by hair loss. This means that about 1 in 5 Americans are losing their hair, with men representing a higher percentage of hair loss victims.

But there’s hope. Registered dietitian nutritionist Marisa Moore says sweet potatoes and chicken have high amounts of vitamin A and B vitamins, respectively, that could help boost hair growth, while RD Valerie Agyeman says the vitamin C in oranges could help improve collagen production. RDN Robin Foroutan, a spokesperson for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, recommends that people who are struggling with hair deficiency try eating more bell peppers, beef, eggs and bone broth.

Beef Broth from Arizona Grass Raised Beef.

If you check out the entire article quoting these experts, you’ll discover that all the foods listed, except one, are available through Arizona agriculture. Can you guess the one we don’t raise or grow here in Arizona?

One of the more popular products (that’s continuing to increase in popularity) is bone broth. One of our Farm Bureau leaders owns a business that provides healthy bone broth, including other bovine products to their customers. Arizona Grass Raised Beef can sell you bone broth through the Internet.
