Extend the Holiday Fun!

By Heide Kennedy, Arizona Farm Bureau Communications Intern

Every year we all look forward to the Christmas season and all the fun and festivities it has to offer. After all, it’s the most wonderful time of the year, right? But, once we reach December 26th, and all of the parties and gatherings and Christmas activities that we had been looking forward to have now come to an end, a little bit of sadness begins to creep in. To help mitigate the post-Christmas blues, here are some tips to keep the fun going just a little bit longer!

Continue doing family activities

Often around the holidays families like to go on more outings or do more activities at home. Don’t let Christmas day be the cut-off date for when you stop enjoying these activities! Keep having those movie nights with hot chocolate, game nights, family outings, and craft nights! This is also the perfect way to make the most out of your kids’ time off of school!

Start an after-Christmas tradition

Who says traditions must be limited to the time leading up to the holidays? Another way to alleviate the day after Christmas sadness is to have a different tradition to look forward to! This could be anything, from getting your kids something new to take to school, making a craft out of the leftover gift wrap, or anything that your family would find enjoyable.

Leave the décor up longer

Most people put a lot of hard work into decorating their houses for Christmas. Don’t let that hard work go to waste! Leave your décor up just a little longer! After all, it is still cold and wintery outside so the decorations are still fitting! At our house, the decorations are usually left up till about mid-January, but the only reason we go that long is that we get busy after the holidays and kind of forget to take them down!

Just because Christmas is over doesn’t mean the fun and happiness has to be over as well! Try some of these tips to extend the joy that comes along with the Christmas season!
