The Young Farmer and Rancher (YF&R) Program is looking for young agriculturists to compete in three contests to be held at their Annual Meeting on November 9, 2011 at the Wigwam Resort in Litchfield Park. The three YF&R Contests are comprised of: Achievement Award, Discussion Meet, and Excellence in Agriculture Award. Don’t miss your opportunity to take home a pocket full of cash! Prizes for this year’s state contest include $500 to each contest winner. Applications are due to the AZFB office by October 21st.

The winners in each state contest will also receive an all expense paid trip to compete in the Dodge-sponsored American Farm Bureau contest in Honolulu, Hawaii in January, 2012. There, the winner of the Achievement Award will win a 2011 Dodge Ram pickup worth $35,000, as well as paid registration to the 2012 YF&R Leadership Conference, February 18-20 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Each of the four runners up will receive a Case IH Farmall 31 tractor.

The top AFBF Discussion Meet winners will receive a 2012 Dodge Ram pickup worth $35,000, as well as paid registration to the 2012 YF&R Leadership Conference. Each of the four runners up will receive a $6,000 US Savings Bond and a Farm Boss chainsaw on behalf of Stihl.

The winner of the AFBF Excellence in Agriculture Awards will receive a 2012 Dodge Ram pickup worth $35,000, as well as paid registration to the 2012 YF&R Leadership Conference. Each of the runners up will receive a $6,000 US Savings Bond and a Farm Boss chainsaw on behalf of Stihl.

The opportunities afforded by these competitions provide you with invaluable knowledge about our industry and yourself. YF&R Competitions give you the confidence, preparedness, and knowledge to be advocates for agriculture, and to feel comfortable and ready to answer the tough questions. The opportunity to compete at the county, state and national levels is a rewarding and fun opportunity to see how Farm Bureau is working for your industry at all levels.
