Making High Quality Milk Begins with Healthy Cows

At Arizona dairy farms the health and wellbeing of the cows is everyone’s number one priority.  From the minute the sun comes up, the dedicated folks who work on the farms are monitoring the health of the individual cows, following strict protocols for tending to cows that are sick, and diligently working to keep the cows safe and healthy.

Healthy cows have lean bodies covered with shiny coats and can produce 100-150 pounds of milk a day which makes anywhere from 11 to 17 gallons of milk.   If a cow becomes ill, she is removed from the milking herd so that she can receive the appropriate medical attention.  This process is often monitored by computer which allows ranchers to track treatment plans for sick animals and helps them to ensure that milk from these cows is discarded not sold.

High quality dairy farms, like those found throughout Arizona, are just a part of the vast American agricultural system.  It is the hard work of farmers and ranchers throughout the country that keeps our supermarkets and farmer’s markets stocked with an abundance of high quality produce, meat, and dairy products.
