Applesauce Spice Cake

Ingredients:
- 2 1/2 cups sifted flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 cloves
- 1/2 allspice
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 1/2 cups unsweetened applesauce
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup walnuts or pecans
- 1 cup raisins
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350°. Sift the dry ingredients together in a bowl. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients. Into the well, pour in butter, water and applesauce. Beat 2 minutes. Add eggs and beat 2 more minutes. Stir in nuts & fruit. Pour into well greased 13x9 or bundt cake pan. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool for a least 1 to 2 hours before you take it out of the pan. Serve with whipped cream and a drizzle of Carmel Sauce. Carmel Sauce
3 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoonswhipping cream
1 teaspoon vanilla
In a small sauce pan melt butter over medium heat. Stir in brown sugar can cream. Cook and stir until misture comes to a full boil. reduce heat. Boil gently for 3 minutes stirring occasionally. Stir in vanilla. Cool.
