- 1 Tablespoon Shortening
- 1 Cup Sugar
- 1 Egg
- 3 teaspoon Baking Powder
- 1 Cup Milk
- 1/8 Teaspoon Salt
- 1 Cup Flour
- 1/2 Teaspoon Nutmeg
- Directions
- Mix all ingredients. Knead dough. Roll out and cut with a doughnut cutter. Place in hot grease until completely golden brown. Put cinnamon, and sugar in one brown bag and powdered sugar in another. Put doughnut's straight from the frying pan to one of the bags. Shake to coat and lay out to cool.

Clover Tea Rolls
Sift together flour, sugar, baking soda and salt into a large bowl. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse meal. Combine milk and lemon juice; quickly stir into flour mixture to form a soft dough. Turn onto lightly floured board, knead slightly. Form into small balls about the size of marbles. Put 3 balls into each greased muffin cup. Bake in 450-degree oven 15 minutes or until lightly browned. Makes 1 dozen rolls.
